  1. What made you decide you wanted/needed to start a program?

12 weeks ago I decided to take control of my health, not only for the benefit of my family but for myself.  I was over weight, unhealthy, very moody and totally addicted to sugar.  I was tired and confused about what I should be eating and how to realistically maintain a healthy lifestyle.  I jumped online and googled “online personal trainer” and the the Get Active website came up. I immediately liked the fact that Hilde was a working mother and I felt that she would be able to help me.  So I decided to commit to a 12 week program and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

  1. What results have you achieved since starting your program?

12 weeks on and I have lost 8.4kg and 69cm from my body measurements.  I feel amazing and am so proud of what I have achieved.  My main goal when starting this program was make my health a priority and incorporate a healthy and active lifestyle into my normal everyday life which better manages my health conditions ( I have several chronic health conditions).  I have totally achieved this.  I feel like I have finally learnt how to eat properly and how to achieve a balanced healthy lifestyle.  I can’t thank Hilde enough for the knowledge and support she has given me!

  1. What do you like best about our program/ having a trainer?

The main thing I liked about this program was having someone I was accountable to each week, especially in the beginning.  Changing bad eating habits in the first weeks was very challenging but having Hilde there to check in each week really kept me on track.  I also felt confident that what Hilde was teaching me would work and that this wasn’t some fad diet.

  1. What would you say to someone on the fence about joining our program?

I would totally recommend Hilde’s program … it has been life changing for me.  My family and friends can’t believe how healthy and good I look.  I feel like a new woman who jumps out of bed ready to take on the day… thank you!!

Cindy has lost a HUGE 16kg to date and is STILL GOING! Get Active Personal Training client.

What was your goal when you originally signed up?

My goal was to lose the 15kg I had put on and get back to a healthy weight.  I also wanted to feel healthy.

Why was this important?

Carrying the extra weight really made me feel uncomfortable, I felt that if I didn’t do anything the weight would keep creeping up and my health would suffer.

How long had you had this goal?

Probably for about 5 years. Once I hit 83kg in January 2016 I thought this has to change.

What were the top 1-2 things that held you back from achieving your goal?

Lack of knowledge on weight loss, exercise and a healthy diet were the two things that held me back from achieving the weight loss I was after.  I always thought time was a reason but I think that was just an excuse rather than a reason.  I also have a herniated disc in my neck and always thought any exercise would aggravate it but again that turned out to be an excuse rather than a reason.

What had you tried to get to your goal before?

I had tried diets from diet shakes to frozen diet meals in the last 5 years but never really kept the weight off successfully, I always put back on whatever I lost.

How did you originally hear about us?

It was a leaflet in the mailbox.

What originally prompted you to seek us out?

My weight had increased so much that I felt uncomfortable, unattractive and most of all unhealthy.   Most of my life I have been able to eat whatever I wanted and not put on weight but with getting a little older my body has changed and putting weight on became very easy.

At the time you enrolled, were you already exercising? What was your previous background in fitness?

I was doing no exercise at all when I first started at Get Active Personal Training. I did do a little bit of walking but it wasn’t really enough to make a difference to my weight.

When you originally signed up what was your first goal?

My first goal was to lose weight, but once I started to exercise I also wanted to increase my fitness and strength because I could see it was making a positive difference in how I felt.

Where you more driven to solve a problem or achieve a goal?

Once I started to exercise and started to see the results this really helped to keep me motivated to keep on exercising.  My trainer also helped me to understand that diet plays a huge role and how to combine different foods to achieve the best results.

How were you feeling about your weight at that time you enrolled?

I felt very overwhelmed about my weight when I first started at Get Active, I was embarrassed that I had let myself put on the weight.  I hated trying on clothes in the shops because I was starting to shop for size 16 clothes, I had never been this size before and wasn’t happy with myself at all.

Now that you achieved your weight loss has your view of yourself changed?

I feel so much more confident, friends and family have been commenting on my weight loss and how healthy I look.  I energy levels have increased and now I am not walking but running for exercise.

How do you feel about your future?

I feel very positive about the future and now look forward to exercising to increase my fitness and strength levels.

What have you liked best about working with us?

I really like the personal service I receive at Getactive, you don’t just become a member of a gym but rather you become a member of a community with common goals and ideas.  The personal training sessions are always challenging and keep me accountable.  Signing up to do personal training is the best decision I have ever made. I have also liked the nutrition advice and have done food diaries to get advice on how to refine my diet to achieve the best outcomes.

What would you say to someone sitting on the fence about joining our program?

I would say just do it, it may be scary at first but it is so rewarding.  It will be hard work but the benefits make you feel amazing.  Set yourself achievable goals and when you have achieved them set another set of goals.

I decided to take on the 12 week Challenge with a friend.  Before deciding to do the challenge I was training for a full and a half marathon but unfortunately got sick and was told I could not train for these events, although at the time I was too sick to do any training.
We found Hilds website through a forum on the net and all the success stories where inspiring not to mention how fantastic Hilds looks.  I actually wanted to come out looking like Peta Robinson from the website!!!
I did 11 weeks as the 12th week fell on a family trip to Bali.  I told Hilds all about my illness and she created a training program around my needs.  Because I was a runner I was not very toned so I was keen to tone up and be healthy again
I stuck to the diet plan and started doing heavy weights with little cardio for the first six weeks to see how I handled it.  I got stronger and fitter and was feeling healthy again.
As you can see I didn’t come out looking like Peta Robinson but I did tone up and I have my health back.  I feel now that I can continue on this path to become even more toned and am looking forward to the challenge.
If you are stuck in a rut or are constantly going to the gym and not seeing any results I recommend you try one of Hilds programs.  Everything is tailored to you personally not just a template that so many of the larger companies provide.
Hilds provides ongoing email support and the Facebook page is great for support from other women also completing programs.
Take the plunge you won’t be sorry.

To put into words my weight loss journey would have to start from long ago.  I was always quite a fit, skinny kid even into teenage years. But depression and facing some personal challenges resulted in weight gain and unnecessary over eating.  This has gone on for years but with a lot of masking my depression I continued on making sure that others didn’t know how much I struggled.

At the age of 32 I became a single mum. I was surrounded by a great network of friends and family but it was not my healthiest existence. All my social events were based around food and drinking. My weight continued to balloon. My depression medication masked my feelings.  I am now 38 and my weight at the start of this year was 120kg (177cm Tall). My now 6 year old son and I have just made the big move to QLD in Feb.  This was a great opportunity to get my health back on track. Once I arrive in Cairns I knew it was time for me to focus on ME! Sounds selfish doesn’t it? But if I was to be the best mum and the healthier version of me then I needed to make some serious changes. I no longer had the excuses I use to make. I couldn’t blame anyone. I couldn’t just be plain lazy anymore. It was all going to change. Enter Cam and Hilde.

My first goal when I got to Cairns was to find a fitness group. I didn’t have to search for too long. I contacted Hilde. But this journey didn’t get off to an immediate start. I had tried to go of my anti-depressants and it didn’t go so well. I kept delaying meeting Cam and Hilde. Thankfully for me Hilde and Cam didn’t give up on me. I eventually met them both and was blown away by the most friendly, caring and approachable team.  I committed to a Get Your Sexy Back program. IT WAS FANTASTIC!! I was on my way. And I have never looking back. 9mths in 13 kilos down and endless cm…I feel amazing.

I now do PT sessions with Cam and attend afternoon sessions. It hasn’t been an easy journey and I have hit some roadblocks, illnesses and down days along the way, but Hilde and Cam have never stopped supporting and encouraging me to keep moving. They are more than just personal trainers. They are a two people who have a passion for helping others, making you feel important and cared for. They are in for the long haul but ultimately it is up to you to make the changes, control what goes into your body, and communicate honestly about your challenges. They understand the struggles and the demons that some of us fight daily.

There is no magic pill to making these changes. You just have to find a support network like Cam and Hilde but mostly you need to find the fight within you to be prepared to take on such changes. You’re worth it.

So finally, through sickness, being a single parent, single income, depression and making a major change to my life, I am achieving great things and will continue lose weight, gain strength, improved mental health but most importantly gain a self-esteem worthy of who I am.

Thanks Cam and Hilde for being more than just a trainer but humans who understand and care.

Just wanted to share this and to say thank you for the amazing positive impact you have had so far on my life this is something I have shared with my friends and want to show you x

Don’t normally post things like this but here it goes, if it inspires one of my friends it’s worth it.  I loved my pregnant body before and after the big belly and the scar.  I loved all of it because it all contributed to bringing my beautiful son into this world and I was proud of it, blessed that I was able to create him and bring his life into this world.  But I wanted to feel better on the inside after having a baby Because my confidence took a hit and I was was constantly tired and I desperately missed all of my family in England,  all of which are totally normal emotions.

I joined getactivefitness and I feel better than ever, I feel more alive, confident and healthy plus I’ve dropped 2 dress sizes and I have so much more energy.  I wanted to share this because I know other people maybe feeling this way regardless if they are a new mum or there feeling tired of the everyday stresses that life can bring.  Take a deep breath, smile and tell yourself you are fabulous ❤️
