Who else puts everyone and everything before themselves?
I know since becoming a Mum I’ve found it harder and harder to spend time on myself and I know a lot of it comes down to guilt! I feel guilty when I spend time on me, I don’t know why but it’s there and it’s worse when you’re a Mum. I actually think one of the hardest things about being a Mum is the guilt. I know for me I’m having to learn to let a lot of it go as it’s actually not making me a better Mum and I’m not the happiest person I could be. All this guilt weighs me down and I stop doing all the things that make me feel great.
The last 6 months for me have been the hardest time of my life and I’m constantly feeling guilty for not being the best Mum, not being the best wife, not being the best person I could be and not the role model I want to be.
This year my Cam & I embarked on being full time Business owners and have both left our very comfortable and well paid jobs to embark on our passion. This year we’ve both been working our butt’s off to build the business we’ve always dreamed off and talked about for years. After years of working online helping others feel awesome we are now running our own Personal Training Studio and Bootcamps in Cairns. I must say it’s pretty amazing being able to have a big impact on people’s lives and help them make some amazing changes plus I’ve made some amazing friendships! The downside is that all our effort and time has gone into our business which isn’t ideal. You may think putting all your effort into your business will help it grow faster although what I’m realizing is that when you FEEL good about yourself and actually spend time on YOU, you’re far more productive, get better results and life is more balanced.
I hear it everyday from Women that they just don’t have time and believe me I understand, but what I do know from experience is that unless you MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF you will NEVER EVER CHANGE. So if you’re happy with how you are then cool, stay the same and don’t do anything. Although if you are not happy, stick of feeling tired, depressed, not fitting into your clothes then you need to MAKE THE TIME. The reality is we can all find the time if it’s important enough to us. If it’s not we won’t make the time and we will continue to do what we’ve always done.
As I’ve been writing this I’ve had to stop twice. Make my son some food and keep him entertained for another 10 minutes so I could finish and help my husband move some gym equipment. So I’m still working on the “time for me” side of things but what I have done that has set me up for an awesome day is get some exercise in and it feels amazing (I did have my son with me for half the time too!)
So if you’re like me and honestly struggle for time I do know it’s hard but until you get to that point where you are prepared to actually MAKE some time for you. You will not change. You will not feel the best you possibly can. So as much as you feel like doing everything for everyone else makes you a better person, if it’s not making you happier and the feeling the best you can then you need to find that balance. I know when our clients commit to set training sessions they get results as they are forced into making time for themselves. They have committed themselves to a program and training times and it becomes habit. I just wish I had a personal trainer myself, he, he!
I’m still working on me but what I do know is when I do spend a bit of time on ME, I feel amazing and I know I’m a better Mum, Wife, Business Owner, coach and mentor because of it!
MAKE TIME FOR YOU AND YOU’LL MAKE SOME AMAZING CHANGES!
Have a great day!
