Chocolate PROTEIN Balls

Chocolate Protein Balls

Who has a sweet tooth?

These little balls might be just what you need to get you through the afternoon.

A friend gave me the recipe and I’m cursing her now as I’ve been eating  way too many!

The recipe is from the Lean and Green app which has some awesome recipes on it.

Ingredients

– 4 teaspooEvolve WPIns of peanut butter (I use Sanitarium Natuarl, you want peanut butter than contains JUST peanuts)
– 4 teaspoons of cacao powder
– 3 teaspoons of LSA mix
– 1 Scoop of chocolate protein powder (I use Evolve Chocolate WPI)
– 2 Teaspoons agave/rice malt syrup
– 1 teaspoon of ground cinamon (I’ve been leaving this out)
– 1 handful of dedicated coconut

Method

In a small bowl, mix the peanut butter, cacoa powder, LSA mix, protein powder, agave rice malt syrup and cinnaom with a cake spatuala until they roll into a nice consistency.
Roll the mixture into 8 small sized balls and then roll the balls in desiccated coconut.
Place the protein balls into the fridge for at lease 10 minutes before eating.

TIP – Make about three batches at once. If you are going to get the hands dirty you might as well get a few balls out of it.

So this is the “official” recipe but I’ve found that there isn’t enough moisture to make the balls bind so I add Coconut oil to help it along. Not sure if it’s because my scoop of protein is quite big but I don’t think the 2 teaspoons of rice malt syrup seems enought to bind it all.

I’ve also swapped the peanut butter for Almond Butter (great for Braden’s kindy that doesn’t allow peanuts).

To make SUGARFREE ditch the rice malt syrup add in a couple of satchets of stevia and use the Coconut Oil to bind.

It’s very easy to eat TOO MANY, and even though they might include all great ingredients too many is not great.

Stick to 2 balls as an afternoon snack.

Hey Hilds, do you make you own LSA mix?

What else could be used instead of coconut oil (i find it has a strong flavour). Flax oil?

I’d say flaxseed has a stronger taste. You could try MCT oil as that doesn’t have much taste at all. 😀
