Finally listening to my own advice!!!!! I’ve got the flu this week and I’m not
very good at being sick, but I’m resting!. You would think I’d love an
excuse to have a week off training, but no, I’m BORED! But I have learnt
to take it easy when I’m sick as training only seems to prolong the
As I very rarely get sick, when you do, you really appreciate how
lucky you are. I love the feeling of waking up and going for a big run,
well maybe not straight away when the alarm goes off but it doesn’t take
me long. I love feeling fit and healthy and when you can’t do all the
things you normally do it is very frustrating. So this week has been
hard for me, no training, stuck inside and just itching to get back into
the gym! It seems like I’m not the only one though, every one I speak
to has had the flu or knows someone who has it, and it’s nasty! Normally
I’m only every sick for 2-3 days and it’s been 5 days now and I’m still
feeling pretty average.
So with my extra time I researched the flu and it seems that the
best way to prevent it is eat well, exercise and get plenty of rest!
Sounds so simple but it’s amazing how many people don’t do those three
basic things. I know the only time I get sick is when I get run down,
lack of sleep and not eating properly (makes sense!). The flu may not
be avoidable but you can definitely do things to stop yourself getting
every bug that comes your way! So here is just another reason to eat
well & exercise, like you needed another reason!
So anyone else out there have any great flu remedies?
Stay fit and healthy! Hilds
