Pregnancy seems to have really hit me these last couple of weeks and
I can’t describe how tired I’ve been. For someone who used to bounce
out of bed in the morning and think nothing of going for a big run right
now I’m struggling to drag myself up the hill for a walk or just get
out of bed!
I stopped flying 2 weeks ago which is good as I don’t think I’d be
able to manage it right now. For the last 2 weeks I’ve been doing ground
duties and office bound. I still have another 4 weeks of ground duties
before I can officially say I’m on maternity leave. Obviously I’ll still
be running Get Active but I won’t have the stress of another job, oh
how nice that’s going to be!!!!!
So as the weeks go on I seem to be getting less and less active. I
am actually finding it pretty hard to deal with the lack of energy at
the moment. I’m also REALLY feeling the heat, it’s been pretty hot &
wet in Cairns and for the first time in a long time we’ve had the air
conditioner going and it’s only September.
Last week I finally purchased my new treadmill which was in
preparation for when bubs arrives although I think I’ll be using it
sooner rather than later. With the hot weather and rain at the moment
it means I either walk early or late afternoon which are both the worst
times for me. Yesterday we also purchased a spin bike and have it
already so I think that will be getting a workout from me as well
(anything I can do in front of the aircon is good right now!).
I’m still struggling to sleep at night. I don’t even know how many
times I get up anymore but it’s rare I’ll sleep for more than 3 hours at
a time. I think bubs is getting me in the habit of those night feeds
already. Most of the time I just can’t sleep coz I’m uncomfortable, I’m a
stomach sleeper and that just isn’t an option anymore and if I lay in
any other position other than on my left side bubs decides to kick me
until I move!
So here I am 5:30am on Sunday morning, been awake since 3am sitting
at my computer finishing off programs from our special offer this week.
The good thing is that business is flat out and I’m really enjoying it
all, although I am HANGING out to get stuck into my own fitness more and
start setting myself some goals. I’ve really missed working towards a
physical challenge and have already starting looking at events for next
year. I’m still trying to be realistic and will be fascinated to see how
long it actually takes me to get back into things with a little baby
hanging of my hip 24/7!
Well I suppose I better not whinge too much more! On a positive
note bubs seems to be growing rapidly (well it seems like he is as my
belly gets bigger by the day), plus he’s pretty active and leaves me no
doubt that he’s still there and doing well. Also I only have another 4
weeks of ground duties and then I can start doing all my crazy nesting
(I’m already hanging to get stuck into all the cupboards and sort things
So overall I’m still going pretty well, I’ve been lucky so far with
no real complaints just the normal pregnancy stuff. I’m still managing
to do some form of exercise, maybe not as much as I’d like but all I can
manage right now. Last week I just did 2 hill walks and a weight
session and this week has been 3 Hill walks and a weight session (and
maybe a spin session in our gym today!).
I’m actually hoping now that I’ve got the bike and soon to be
treadmill in the gym downstairs that I’ll be able to do a bit more
consistent exercise. It’s means that I can train in the morning and just
do ½ hour rather than my hill walk which takes a good hour.
Anyway enough from me, I’m going to see if I can crawl back into bed and get another couple of hours sleep before Cam wakes up!
